Greetings from the 2004-2005 Continuing Education (CE) and Program Committee. After a relaxing summer break from the organization, the committee is gearing up and making plans for events that are both educational and entertaining for the members of the St. Louis Medical Librarians (SLML) group.

The first CE program of the year is already in place. On September 22, 2004, from 1:00 - 4:00, SLML will be sponsoring the fall MLA teleconference, The Art and Practice of Electronic Journal, Book, and Database Licenses: Practical Tips for Health Care Organizations. The site for the teleconference will be at the Becker Medical Library at the Washington University School of Medicine, for more details go to: http://www.slml.org/calendar.php. This event is free to all SLML members, non-SLML members will be charged a $20 fee. Participants will receive three MLA CE contact hours by attending this teleconference.

A second educational program is also in the works, this is an Adobe Acrobat Basics class to be taught by fellow SLML member Russ Monika. The class is scheduled for October 28, 2004, at the Becker Medical Library. Stay tuned for more details, a time and description of the class will be posted on the website in the next few weeks.

The committee would like to take this chance to encourage you to take advantage of the upcoming SLML programs. Our goal is to plan programs that offer you the opportunity to improve your professional skills, and network with your peers.
