On April 19 th, 2005 the Bernard Becker Medical Library at Washington University School of Medicine will host an open house: Managing Knowledge in the Digital Domain. The objectives of this year’s open house are to:
- raise the medical center community awareness of the library’s resources that provide unique ways to access complex information
- introduce medical center community to the library’s expanding role in managing institutional knowledge and
- establish new relationships with medical center community members
This year the Library is adding a lecture series to expand the event. The lectures will be held in the King Center on the 7 th floor of the Becker Library. The invited guest speakers are Dr. John Halamka, M.D., M.S., Chief Information Officer, Harvard Clinical Research Instituteand Dr. Barbara, Cohen, PhD Senior Editor at PLoS. A third lecture on copyright is planned. More to come on their specific topic.
The Library Atrium will house booths, posters and exhibits organized around the themes of Research, Patient Care, Education, Web Connections and Scholarly Publishing. Experienced Library staff will provide information, and product demonstrations. The exhibits open at 9:30 a.m.
The Library also plans to introduce its Liaisons Program, aimed at creating new relationships with faculty and staff. And, it will also unveil the new electronic catalog, Library website and federated search engine.
The booths will be open during the lectures and door-Prizes will be given out in the Atrium. The event will close at 3:30 p.m. Hope to see you on April 19, 2005!! |
