At their January 2005 meeting, the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Medical Librarians voted in favor of proposing an increase in annual dues for membership from $15 to $20. The dues increase will be presented to the membership for a vote at the Annual Business Meeting in June.
Dues for retired and unemployed members will remain $10.
In proposing the increase, several board members pointed to rising fees for teleconferences and programs. There is also concern about up-front expenses that will be incurred in the preparations for MCMLA 2006, which is being hosted by St. Louis.
A detailed explanation outlining specific costs and concerns will be posted on the SLML website by the end of March. Board meeting minutes are also posted on the website. Please take a look and come ready to vote at the June meeting.
