Now that the SLML business year well into its second half, we hope that members have had a chance to take part in some of the continuing education and program events. For those of you who were unable to attend below is a brief summary of what we have been up to this year.

Our first program, an MLA produced CE teleconference titled, "The Art and Practice of Electronic Journal, Book and Database Licenses: Practical Tips for Healthcare Organizations", took place in September. The general consensus of the group of attendees was that it was one of the better teleconferences, providing information applicable to the everyday work experience.

In October SLML sponsored an Adobe Acrobat 6.0 class taught by our very own SLML member, Russ Monika. The class received very positive feedback; members who attended learned all kinds of useful tasks that Adobe Acrobat can do to make our professional lives easier.

The SLML Holiday Party was held in December on the main campus of Washington University. The group convened at the newly remodeled Olin Library. Staff members from Olin conducted tours of the new state-of-art library, complete with cyber café. After the tours we continued our holiday celebration over a delicious dessert buffet at the historical Whittemore House.

In March 2005 SLML, in partnership with the Washington University School of Medicine Becker Library, hosted another MLA CE teleconference. This particular teleconference was titled, "Partnering for Public Health: Information, Librarians and the Public Health Workforce". Invitations to the teleconference were extended to numerous groups outside the SLML organization in an effort to reach out to members of the public health community and fellow librarians at the local public libraries. The teleconference was attended by 28 people; six of these attendees were from outside the SLML.

The committee is now working on plans for the Awards Luncheon and the Annual Business Meeting. Stay tuned to your email and the SLML webpage for details that will be coming soon. We hope to see you there!
