ST. LOUIS MEDICAL LIBRARIANSAnnual Business MeetingJune 2, 2000MinutesThe Annual Business Meeting of the St. Louis Medical Librarians was held on June 2, 2000 at St. Louis Children’s Hospital board room. A tour of the new Family Resource Center was held immediately following the meeting and luncheon. Luncheon was sponsored by Ovid Technologies. President Suzanne Dunmire called the meeting to order. She began by thanking the current members of the SLML board and committees. COMMITTEE REPORTS Treasurer Barbara Halbrook distributed the 1999-2000 Treasurer’s Annual Report to the membership present. In it she recommended: the membership be encouraged to access Amazon.com through the SLML webpage, that SLML pursue additional sources of funding, and that the new treasurer change banks and move an existing CD into a checking account. Communications chairperson Russ Monika reported to the membership that the webpage continues to be up and running and that the SLML listserv is a good source for keeping up with the group’s activities. Kathy Mullen, Continuing Education chairperson asked the membership for ideas for upcoming workshops. Cheryle Cann, Governance, announced that there were changes in the Procedure Manual, and it is posted on the SLML webpage. Program Committee co-chairperson Jennifer Plaat reported that according to surveys that were completed at the various programs throughout the past year, the membership liked the panel discussions and non-medical presentations. There was more spent on programs this past year than in recent years. NEW BUSINESS Russ Johnson, Southpointe Hospital, was introduced as a new member. Linda Mercer, Washington University Medical School Library, is leaving to become the librarian at John Burroughs School. The Nominating Committee announced the results of the election for the 2000-2001 Board of Directors. Officers are President Sylvia Toombs, President-Elect Gaibrielle "Gabby" Carrera, Treasurer Monica Shieh, and Secretary Angela Spencer. Kathy Ray and Mayris Woods were elected as Members-at-Large. It was reported to the membership that the board approved the Strategic Plan Evaluation for 1999-2000 year. A motion was made by Cheryle Cann to increase dues for SLML from $10 to $15. During the discussion on the motion, past-Treasurer Barbara Halbrook told the membership that there has been more spending on Continuing Education and Programs that benefit the organization, but that SLML is spending more than it takes in. Money is dwindling, and while the dues increase will not cover all expenses, it will help. After further discussion , a motion was made by Carol Iglauer to keep dues at $10 for retired and unemployed members. The motions were passed by the membership. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned.
