Stereotypical Librarian Contest

Picture a bookish librarian in her tweeds and oxfords, deep in study at Oxford, naturally. Now hike up her skirt and add a few inches to her heels and she's the trendiest thing going whether she's bopping through London or shopping at your local mall. And those lace-up oxfords? We can't get enough of them!
Trend tip: Covered platforms and sky-high wooden heels are on the cutting edge of style, but you can find plenty of down-to-earth styles at a department store near you. (From MSMBC website)
MCMLA2006 Attendees the time has come for us librarians to take a stand against our image being used as the comparison to what the fashion world is trying to sell. We know we are stylish is our own way. To celebrate the librarian style, the MCMLA2006 Programming Committee is proud to announce the Stereotypical Librarian Contest. The contest will be held on Friday, October 13, 2006 during the MCMLA Business Meeting.

After consulting with our judge, Ivana Readalot, the Stereotypical Librarian Contest will consist of the following categories with of course fabulous prizes awarded to the winner:

Category one: The Cat Factor – judging will be based on the number of cats and the most unusual cat obsession. Brevity will count in this category.

Category Two: The Glasses - Two chances to win:
1) how many glasses you have at work (we will trust what you state)
2) most typical librarian half glasses

Category Three: The Shoes – Four chances to win and the shoe (boots will be accepted in this category) must be worn during the competition:
1) the highest heeled shoes
2) the most colorful shoes
3) the most typical orthopedic shoes
4) the hippest shoes

Category Four: The Hair – Three chances to win:
1)       the best hair bun
2)       the coolest haircut
3)       the most interesting color

MCMLA2006 Attendees anything goes in this contest. If you need hair extensions to pull off that hair bun then go for it. You have the glittery high heeled disco platform shoes of the 1970’s in your closet then dig those out and get into that shoe contest. Just because you are one of our male members does not mean you can not enter the highest heeled shoe or hair bun contest. What happens at MCMLA2006 stays at MCMLA2006 except for those incriminating digital pictures that might be snapped and published on the MCMLA web site (but does your boss really look at that web site?)

Let’s show each other that we are not bookish librarians!!

Since the judge, Ivana Readalot, is a non-MCMLA member, this contest is open to all attendees even the host SLML Librarians.
