An open invitation to the SLML membership
The Board would like to invite all of our General Membership to attend a brainstorming dinner meeting on November 20, 2008.
Over the last few years we have been talking about the direction St. Louis Medical Librarians might take. We have now sent our Membership Survey to all of you (via the listserv) and want to discuss it further. We want to talk about maintaining (or not) our Institutional Membership category. We also want to talk about what direction and activities we would like St. Louis Medical Librarians to undertake. All of these conversations will serve as guidelines as we prepare our new Strategic Plan.
We really want you to join us and participate in the discussions, comments, and opinions you have to contribute to this brainstorming session. Who are we now? Who do we want to be? What changes in the organization should be made? Everything under the sun is open to discussion.
Please join us on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Mei Hua restaurant at 9626 Olive Boulevard from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The restaurant has made their private dining room available to us where we may spread out to talk and eat. The buffet includes soups, appetizers, entrees, rice and dessert. St. Louis Medical Librarians will sponsor this dinner meeting. I just had lunch there on Sunday and can vouch for every dish on the buffet. Good Food. Good People. Although not on the menu the buffet dinner usually runs at $9.50 per person. But SLML has agreed to pick up the tab for all attending.
Tea, coffee or soda will be included. Alcoholic beverages will be paid for by those enjoying them.
(We will still have our Holiday Party as we have had for the last several years. Jennifer and the Program and CE Committee will be telling us about this gathering very soon.)
Please RSVP to Cheryle Cann (cann@umsl.edu 314-516-5909) by Monday, November 17, 2008
